Texas Children's Hospital seeks an experienced physician with a proven clinical track record to serve The Vannie Cook Clinic in McAllen, TX as an attending Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist.

The mission of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children's Cancer and Hematology Clinic is to provide treatment to children in South Texas who suffer from cancer and blood disorders regardless of their ability to pay. It is the region's first state-of-the-art pediatric hematology/oncology clinic and the only comprehensive pediatric cancer treatment facility in South Texas. The Vannie E. Cook clinic is a Children's Oncology Group member institution. Since 2001, more than 10,000 children with cancer or blood disorders have found the care they need right where they need it most, in their own backyard.

Position Highlights:
Join our nationally recognized team of pediatric sub-specialists as we seek to hire a full-time clinical Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist.

• Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage care of Hematology/Oncology patients.
• Attend on the inpatient clinical service on a rotating basis.
• Participate in the outpatient clinical service, including care for continuity patients.
• Perform procedures (bone marrow aspirate/biopsy and lumbar puncture) on the procedure team.
• Virtual access to all conferences in the division of pediatric hematology/oncology at the THC medical center campus site, including tumor boards, research conferences, and sub-specialty team meetings.
• Direct access to national and international experts in both hematology and oncology.

Qualifications:
• Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
• An academic appointment at Baylor College of Medicine will be made commensurate with the applicant's prior experience.
• Applicants must have a Medical School Degree or equivalent.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible for Pediatric Hematology Oncology.
• The selected candidate for the position must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active Texas medical license.

Preferred:
• Fluent in Spanish

About the Vannie Cook Children's Clinic:

The outpatient clinic is comprised of over 10,000 square feet of space with 2 waiting rooms, 7 exam rooms, 2 procedure rooms, 2 phlebotomy stations, 2 laboratories and a large infusion suite divided into areas for toddlers, young children, and adolescents, respectively.

In addition to offering diagnostic and cancer treatment services, the clinic offers a long-term survivor program which follows childhood cancer survivors through adulthood. Faculty at Vannie Cook have an opportunity to collaborate with epidemiologists and other physician scientists' health disparities as well as other epidemiology clinics.

The clinic was created through a joint effort of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation, Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center. Our goal is to ensure that local children who suffer from cancer and blood diseases receive the most up-to-date care and treatment without the need to leave the region and regardless of ability to pay.
