Brief Job Description:
The Warehouse Specialist works under the general supervision of the FWS Warehouse Manager located at 1111 W. North Loop Dr., Austin TX 78756. The Warehouse Specialist works with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment; provides administrative support to the Warehouse Manager and assists with warehouse inventory control and records. The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for receiving, sorting, storing, taking inventory, keeping records, data entry, organizing deliveries, processing, loading orders, and transporting state goods from the warehouse to various buildings. The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for operating automated equipment such as forklifts. The Warehouse Specialist assists the Warehouse Manager with planning warehouse layout, and other storeroom areas, in accordance with warehouse turnover, volume, weight, and associated aspects of stored state goods. Maintains all automated equipment and warehouse vehicles. The Warehouse Specialist must maintain a safe and clean working environment keeping shelves, pallet area and work station neat, maintain clean shipping supply area and comply with warehouse procedures, rules and regulations. The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for efficiently conducting all duties and responsibilities assigned. The Warehouse Specialist contributes to the Warehouse Facility Services team, including conference room set-ups, moving staff and employee equipment. Verifies the receipt of inventory or retail merchandise shipments and oversees the loading and unloading of stock and merchandise. May supervise the work of others.

Knowledge of warehousing methods and procedures, of inventory and stock control record keeping, of retail sales practices and procedures, of customer service, of standard business practices, of merchandising, and of cost management practices.
Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software.
Ability to transfer stock from one location to another, to review warehouse and store operations for compliance, to follow prescribed store and inventory control standards, to communicate effectively, and to supervise the work of others.
Essential Job Functions:
20% Responsible for receiving, recording, and issuing. Ensure all safety and storage regularities for housing of goods and supplies are followed.
20% Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, and color or product code. Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
10% Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed and/or shipped.
10% Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to purchase orders and distributing to receiving associates for processing. Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
20% Transporting goods and supplies from the warehouse to various state building and other locations. Performing conference room set-up, moving employee equipment.
20% Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
List the Licensure, certification, or registration required to perform this Job:
Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of G.E.D. program.
Must have a valid Texas driver's license.
Valid forklift driver's license.
Initial Screening Criteria :
High School diploma or GED is required. Ability to communicate effectively in writing as demonistrated through the application process. Preferred experience in shipping, receiving, sorting and distributing furniture, supplies or equipment. Preferred experience in operating warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, dolly, etc. Preferred experience driving panel truck and/or cargo van.
