Laundry/Sewing Room Worker I
Position performs routine manual and semi-skilled work for an institutional laundry providing services for individuals with mental/physical challenges. Work involves sorting, classifying, weighing and recording of weights, flatwork ironing, thermapatch machine and tying machine, folding, preparing linen for delivery and routine cleaning of work areas. This position will pick-up and deliver linen to individuals home on a daily basis, count, long and report inventory of linen on client homes, keep linen closets neat in appearance and may drive a truck/trailer combo around campus. Work involves both light and heavy physical labor. This position normally works from 5:00am-3:00pm Monday-Thursday. Occasional work on weekends, holidays and hours other than regularly scheduled may be required.
Laundry Worker I works under the close supervision of the Operations Supervisor with minimal latitude for use of initiative and independent judgement. Completion of work requires use of established methods and/or techniques. Decisions are simple and based on well-defined guidelines. Decisions are simple and based on well-defined guidelines.
