The Medical Center of Aurora, the first community hospital in the Denver Metro area to receive three-time Magnet designation for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), is a 346-bed acute care hospital located in Aurora, Colorado. Position Summary:  This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Social Worker II is responsible for providing clinical support for patients in our intensive outpatient program (IOP). Able to assess the psychological, social, cultural and/or financial needs that impact the patient's mental wellness journey.  Has the ability to utilize counseling and clinical knowledge in the assessment of patient behavioral health needs. Facilitation of group therapy and safety assessments.  Responsible and accountable for coordination of services through an interdisciplinary approach which provides a comprehensive approach to treatment. Through concurrent case management, patients will be assessed to determine appropriateness of admission and continued treatment.  Discharge planning will begin at the time of admission and reassessed throughout the course of treatment.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  1. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) required.
  2. Education:  Master of Social Work (MSW) from accredited school of social work preferred. Master of Arts (MA) and/or (MS) in related mental field or Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from appropriate accredited school acceptable.
  3. Experience:  Previous experience providing in therapeutic groups and demonstrated ability to work independently. 3-5 years' recent Case Management or Social Worker experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  4. Special Qualifications:  Knowledge of continuum of outpatient services.  Excellent communication and customer service skills.  Ability to complete tasks with very little supervision.  Ability to sense urgency of issues presented and prioritize work schedule.   Ability to respond to crisis situations and access clinical resources a must.  Will cooperate with all Behavioral Health training as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  5. Will obtain CPI within three months of hire.
