Department: INST | Compliance Clinical Billing Comp

Summary of Job Duties: The Compliance Audit Manager, under the general direction of the Sr. Director of Clinical Billing Compliance, reviews medical records and billing system programs to determine billing accuracy and to ensure that all federal and state guidelines for billing are followed; DRGs, Outpatient APCs, research billing, drug billing, and other identified risk areas. Leads or assists in audits and reviews by outside regulatory agencies. This is a part time (50% FTE) position.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus seven (7) years' experience in healthcare setting in administration, finance, law, coding or auditing.
  • Must have one of the following CURRENT coding certifications: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
  • Must have demonstrated ability to present information verbally, and have strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Must have ability to make reasonable decisions based upon the information gathered and ability to make independent audit decisions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PREFER degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Knowledge in areas of auditing, communication, problem identification, investigation and resolution, billing/coding, risk management, regulatory compliance or internal auditing. Ability to create PowerPoint presentations and ability to present regulatory information to large groups.

  • Processes Medicaid cases in the most efficient and cost-effective method.
  • Evaluates existing programs and systems and continues to seek personal and professional growth. 
  • Analyzes patients' responsibility by understanding verification of assets, family size, liability, budget, etc.
  • Works Medicaid cases timely, including preparing budgets as directed by DHS policy.
  • Works assigned accounts and documents the outcome and status of the Medicaid application in Epic as needed.
  • Keys Medicaid cases into the DHS eligibility system.
  • Obtains knowledge of DHS/UAMS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Documents and retrieves eligibility information from different data bases.
  • Reviews adult and newborn accounts in Epic that have pending applications and reviews DHS verifications.
  • Contacts patients as required to continue processing applications.
  • Assists patients and/or care providers, RNs, and social workers with self- pay patients.
  • Assist in adding adult and newborn AR DHS Medicaid applications into OnBase. 
  • Acts as a resource for Medicaid Enrollment team.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of Medicaid/UAMS policies and procedures, maintains current knowledge of all federal and state regulatory mandates and requirements including but not limited to Medicare, EMTALA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission.
  • Successfully completes annual competency tests and competency testing and training required to validate skills. 
  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner. 
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills. Communicates accurate and complete information.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments.
  • Follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care.
  • Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. 
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
