Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Analyst, Business Systems for the Revenue Cycle Management department at our Hyde Park, IL location. This will be a hybrid/flexible remote opportunity where you will come in office on an as needed basis. 

 

HYBRID REMOTE OPPORTUNITY 

 

Improve the way the health system leverages Epic to manage the revenue cycle! As an analyst on the UCM Process Improvement Team, your time will be spent not only building and testing the Epic billing system, but also engaging with IT and operations to fully understand business problems and design solutions. This role is key to driving optimal use of Epic software for revenue cycle and bring value-add change to UCM systems and workflows.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Build and optimize the Epic system for revenue cycle teams: 
            - Identify and implement performance enhancing changes to Epic software
            - Create and test system rules and claim edit checks
            - Build and optimize workqueue and routing rules
            - Expand scope of work as the UCM builder analyst program grows
  • Maintain good communication and collaboration strategies to maximize impact of builder program
            - Engage with end users to understand issues and design solutions in Epic that meet business needs in a timely and professional manner
            - Participate in IT, training and operational team meetings
            - Communicate findings and share progress updates with stakeholders
            - Co-lead brainstorming and value mapping sessions with revenue cycle's operational excellence (OE) certified facilitator
  • Documentation and Change Management
            - Generate and maintain good design documentation
            - Follow IT change control processes to migrate build to production environments
  • Research and analyses to support revenue cycle projects
            - Investigate options for solving business problems using the Epic software
            - Summarize and present findings to enable data-driven decision making
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant certification in healthcare, business or information systems is required. In lieu of degree, 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience with Epic Hospital Billing application 
  • Must be able to read and understand Epic work queue rules and Boolean expressions
  • Must be familiar with payor claim data requirements and common reasons for payor denials
  • Must have experience documenting and analyzing business processes
  • Epic credentials or certification preferred
  • Must have strong issue tracking and resolution skills, and the ability to cope in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to prioritize, organize, and assess work in order to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and Powerpoint
  • Capable of working well in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and successfully interacting with others at all levels of the organization, including remote teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills
  • Ability to plan and facilitate meetings with diverse participants
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in both normal and pressure situations
  • Proven skills in problem solving

  • Shift: Days Monday-Friday 8a-4:30p  (Flexible start time)
