We're hiring an Emergency Room Technician at the University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Illinois! In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high quality care to our patients in our Comer Emergency Department.
UChicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital located in Hyde Park, is a state-of-the-art 172-bed hospital dedicated to caring for infants, children, teens and young adults. Offering a range of services from general care to groundbreaking treatments for the most complex medical conditions, Comer Children's is home to the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center on Chicago's South Side. This experience is invaluable for analyzing and learning from the acute care setting.
Job Summary:
The Emergency Room Technician assists and augments the registered nursing staff in providing high quality patient care in the Emergency Room. The ER Technician must demonstrate the expertise and competency of all paramedic skills in accordance with Illinois State law.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must have current CPR training recognized by the American Heart Association
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform a variety of patient assistance without direct supervision.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, clinical staff, and the general public.
- EMT-B or EMT-P, Medical Assistant, or Certified Nursing Assistant
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS/PALS certification

- Night Shift, 7p-7a, every other weekend working requirement

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 36 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the night shift, from approximately 7pm-7am and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus. The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary depending on the week, but we anticipate that you will be scheduled to work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) only every other week.
Must comply with UCMC's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process. This is in addition to your compliance with the Flu Vaccination requirement as well. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered consistent with applicable law. Lastly, a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
