THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The General Accounting department is seeking a results-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to support the accounting, reporting, and control environment for the Company's fixed asset portfolio and capital spend. This role will be responsible for key aspects of fixed asset accounting, including monthly close activities, capitalization and depreciation accounting, account reconciliations, and analysis of capital project activity. The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of fixed asset accounting, partnering cross-functionally on capital project activity, and identifying opportunities to enhance processes, controls, and reporting within a high-growth retail environment.

  • CPA certification required.

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities related to fixed assets, including depreciation, capitalization, and subledger reconciliation.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting workpapers related to fixed assets, depreciation, and capital expenditures.
  • Own the integrity of the fixed asset subledger, including asset additions, retirements, transfers, and in-service activities.
  • Review capital project and asset activity, including asset in-service, transfers, retirements, and other lifecycle events.
  • Support capitalization governance by reviewing project spend for alignment with accounting policy and identifying items requiring expense reclassification.
  • Analyze fixed asset balances, depreciation expense, and capital spend activity; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare rollforwards, variance analyses, and management reporting related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.
  • Support compliance with internal controls and assist with SOX documentation, testing, and audit support for fixed asset processes.
  • Manage prepaid SaaS subscription balances, including expense recognition, amortization of prepaid amounts, and reconciliation to underlying contracts and invoices.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather inputs related to capital projects, asset additions, retirements, and other fixed asset activity.
  • Support internal and external financial reporting requirements related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and provide support for requests related to assigned fixed asset areas.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to fixed asset processes, reporting, and systems.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in fixed asset accounting, retail accounting, and/or public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience with fixed asset accounting, capitalization, depreciation, and account reconciliation processes.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred but not required).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communicator with strong writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Self-starter with a hands-on approach and willingness to dive into details.

The pay range for this position is $77,600.00 - $111,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company's bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
