Department Description

The Chemistry Department is a large and complex academic and research department located in the College of Letters and Science. The department has state and extramural funds with expenditures of approximately $26M annually including $7M in organized research. There are 29 staff members, 41 senate faculty, 4 continuing lecturers, many Federation appointees, Emeritus Faculty, Postdocs, Pre-Six Lecturers, as well as 250 graduate students and 750 undergraduate majors.


Job Summary

The Account Manager, under the general supervision of the Business Operations Manager, manages faculty accounts and grants, processes accounts receivable, manages department recharges, gifts, and reimbursements. The Accounting Coordinator also serves as back-up to the Purchasing Coordinator and Travel Specialist. This position operates with a high degree of confidentiality, organization, and attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

·       Lift, move and carry boxes weighing up to 40 lbs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

·       Experience with budgeting and contract/grant/gift account management.

·       Experience providing excellent customer service and assistance.

·       Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and electronic accounting systems.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Math skills to perform calculations, including percentages.

·       Organizational skills to work independently to achieve timely progress on multiple detail-oriented projects.

·       Interpersonal and communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with people of varying ages and cultural backgrounds, in person and in writing; ability to clarify situations and resolve problems; ability to exercise tact and diplomacy, especially to resolve disagreements and conflicts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

·       Experience using campus systems, including AggieEnterprise, AggieExpense and UC Path.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Knowledge of UC Davis travel and entertainment policies.
