  Position Summary:   The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. The Campus Planning and Sustainability office of the Division of Finance & Administration at UC Irvine guides the vision and development of UCI's physical campus setting, manages environmental compliance as it relates to the approval and construction of capital projects, and facilitates campus-wide implementation of sustainability policies and priorities.   The Senior Sustainability Planner at The University of California, Irvine's Campus Planning & Sustainability office, plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainability initiatives and helps achieve sustainability goals. Serves as a lead in supporting the implementation of the UC Sustainable Practices Policy including reporting responsibilities, AASHE STARS reporting, climate action and resiliency planning, managing sustainability programs (including Green Labs) and initiatives, staff sustainability training, award submittals, web and media communications, sustainability-focused tours, facilitates collaboration across campus and with community stakeholders, participates in system-wide sustainability work groups, and manages up to four student interns. The position will also be expected to develop and leverage a strong alignment between campus planning and sustainability to support integrated planning and promote diversity, equity, inclusion and justice (DEIJ) priorities. $73,900.00 - $85,000.00 (Annual Salary) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $73,900.00 - $133,700.00 (Annual Salary)

 

Required:   Three or more years of experience in sustainability, environmental programs, or related disciplines. Three or more years of experience in higher education setting preferred. Bachelor's degree and / or equivalent experience / training in environmental science, management, or policy; architecture; engineering; or public health   Demonstrated knowledge in the area of environmental sustainability Ability to build collaborative relationships and business partnerships. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to analyze, research, and synthesize large volumes of data and information, extract relevant detail, and prepare reports in various formats.


 

Preferred:   Master's degree preferred   ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional (preferred) Knowledge of U.S. Green Building Council rating systems. Thorough knowledge of sustainability concepts and practices, climate action plans, food service procurement, and waste management practices. Skill in planning and implementing sustainability focused practices. Proficient in all software applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Access). Ability to draft clear, concise correspondence, develop presentations and business documents. Ability to supervise student interns Knowledge of sustainability-related policies in the US system, and State legislation

 

Special Conditions Required:   Evening meetings Occasional outside travel to system-level meetings, and state, regional, or national conferences
