DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

UC Treasury manages over $100B in annual cash flows and serves as a systemwide partner in cash and liquidity management, banking services, and cash forecasting. While UC Treasury has been a part of UC's Office of the President for over 20 years, the team has recently witnessed an evolution in the group's purview and scope. The team's fundamental purpose was redesigned, shifting its focus from tactical processing to strategic partnerships throughout the UC system. The team continues to look forward as it embarks on advanced technology to improve and secure their systems, operations, and support to UC. UC Treasury is a key internal partner that further deepens our systemwide relationships.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated college student with a passion for finance and data to join our team as an intern for the summer. As an intern, you will assist in crafting meaningful reports from financial data, researching and implementing software tools, and streamlining the systems we use to manage UC's cash and banking information.

Responsibilities 

  • Evaluate reporting tools to streamline the Treasury cash management dashboard 
  • Bank fee analysis – Develop insights related to the fees UC is charged by partner banks
  • Develop a Bank Scorecard, translating key insights to evaluate efficiency and cost
  • Collaborate with the Treasury team to develop and execute web-based forms for forecasting, including a roll-out plan for implementation
  • Conduct research and present recommendations on financial forecast tools
  • Organize and streamline banking system data 
  • Assist in other related tasks as needed

Required Qualifications 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in finance or related field
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Interested in corporate cash management practices
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel and creating output based on large data sets (e.g., knowledge of pivot tables, database functions and graphs)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Education

  • High school graduate and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Currently enrolled University of California student 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

This position is eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement within the state of California. The person hired will be required to reside within California and may be required to report to work on-site at UC's Office of the President (UCOP) located in Oakland, CA on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, subject to change.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
