This position participates in the aggressive recruitment strategy supporting the Office of Admissions' objective of identifying, recruiting, and contributing to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students who will be actively involved in the educational and research programs at UT Dallas. Advises prospective and admitted students on admission requirements, academic programs, and financial aid. Participates in day-to-day Advisor activities as assigned and travels during the workday, evenings, and weekends as necessary for work.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree. At least one year of advising, recruiting or sales experience. Excellent organizational skills; proficient in MS Office products and the ability to learn other software programs; detail oriented, accurate and ability to prioritize information in a timely manner; strong communication skills; written, oral, active listening and interpersonal skills; work effectively in team situations; proactive in identifying potential issues; demonstrate computational ability; ability to investigate, analyze and interpret data or information for accuracy and completeness in order to make informed decisions; ability to work on several tasks at one time; ability to make quality decisions based on available information; ability to respond effectively in a variety of situations; ability to improve performance by doing new things; ability to plan, coordinate, schedule, direct and monitor tasks, activities and assignments to effectively complete a project; understand cross-cultural communication needs and respond accordingly; demonstrate understanding of UT Dallas' strategic plan. Extensive travel required; evenings and weekend work required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Increase the number of qualified enrolled students by: aggressively communicating with and servicing a dynamic population of prospects, applicants, and admitted students; providing exemplary customer service via phone, e-mail, CRM systems, and in-person counseling, responding to inquiries within 24 hours; and disseminating information relative to admission, scholarship, and financial aid to prospective undergraduate students in an ethical manner to ensure confidentiality and FERPA compliance.
- Coordinate travel schedule and assignments and maintain accurate records of all expenses. EXTENSIVE TRAVEL, INCLUDING OVERNIGHT TRAVEL, AND EVENING AND WEEKEND WORK ARE REQUIRED IN THIS POSITION.
- Develop and maintain recruiting plan for assigned territory.
- Develop relationships with community partners and high school faculty, administration, and staff to provide and exchange information and to enhance the counseling and advisement of students considering/planning to attend UT Dallas.
- Stay current on federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures as well as university degrees, majors, programs, research, and admission requirements.
- Review applications and admit freshman and transfer students.
- Participate in all assigned training, meetings, and events.
Remote Work Notice
A hybrid remote work schedule may be available, and completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required upon employment. Use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Employee must be located within the DFW area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be canceled at any time.
