Position Description:
Led by Dr. Peter Boling, the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the Virginia Commonwealth University supports a large health system that cares for many adult patients with advanced chronic illness. The Division seeks a new clinician educator, at the rank of Assistant Professor. Depending on skills and preferences, roles may include, nursing home care, clinic-based care, house calls and home-based care, inpatient consults, and hospice. The Division works to manage patients across the continuum, favoring value over volume. All Division of Geriatric Medicine faculty work in teams with nurse practitioners, social workers and pharmacists. Existing staff is comprised of 19 physicians, 20 NPs, 4 social workers, and 2 Pharm D. Learners include students from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, social work, residents, and geriatric fellows. Research activities depend on skills and interest.

Qualifications:
The Division of Geriatric Medicine seeks a clinician educator with excellent clinical and teaching skills, and dedication to advancing the academic program. Fellowship training is desirable. Candidates must be Board Certified /Board Eligible in Internal Medicine. Candidates must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia. Candidates must demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
