SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Regional Buyer is responsible for managing asset inventory, purchasing programs, and facility maintenance projects within their assigned region. This role involves coordinating with local Waste Pro teams to ensure efficient project execution and alignment with corporate standards.

 

Asset Management - JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage rental equipment inventory, ensuring timely returns and resolving supplier-related issues.
  • Support the Industrial Division with rental concerns, including billing and service matters.
  • Ensure supplier performance meets expectations and assist in sourcing new vendors as needed.
  • Track and verify container inventory monthly across assigned locations, report findings to Corporate Purchasing.
  • Promote effective container utilization and enforce inventory policies through training and communication with local teams.

 

Facility Maintenance - JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage facility improvement and small remodel projects (e.g., roofing, HVAC, paving, fencing, painting, electrical, office moves).
  • Lead service agreements for HVAC, landscaping, janitorial, pest control, irrigation, and tree services; oversee initiation while local teams manage daily operations.
  • Assist divisions in maintaining local contractor guides, including recent work and warranty details.
  • Handle procurement documentation (e.g., scopes of work, bids, insurance certificates).
  • Prepare scopes, solicit quotes, evaluate suppliers, and award contracts based on qualifications and compliance.
  • Supervise project execution, monitor budgets, approve changes, and ensure timely project closure.
  • Participate in annual facility budget planning and support permitting processes, including attending public meetings as needed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams through regular site visits.

 

Purchasing - JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as a regional leader and mentor, providing training and support on purchasing policies and programs.
  • Analyze data to inform procurement decisions and negotiate with suppliers for materials and services.
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate Purchasing and Fleet Programs; collaborate with Division, Fleet, and Office Managers.
  • Identify and lead cost-saving initiatives, margin improvements, and procurement efficiencies.
  • Prepare and manage RFQs/RFPs, streamline supplier base, and follow strategic sourcing practices.
  • Provide monthly reporting on savings, initiatives, and compliance to Corporate Purchasing.
  • Oversee purchasing compliance and deliver local training to improve process execution.
  • Manage change orders, validate and reconcile invoices, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Uphold ethical standards and ensure adherence to procurement procedures.
  • Offer purchasing expertise, leadership, and user support across the region.
