The Technical Writer and Editor will be a pivotal team member that assists with various writing projects, including but not limited to Request for Proposal (RFP) responses, customer and government correspondence, and marketing content. This individual will also be responsible for editing and substantial revision for written documents produced within the Communications team or other departments within Waste Pro. This key position will work with the Senior Technical Writer to organize and complete multiple simultaneous writing and editing efforts. The ideal candidate is curious and motivated to learn about the solid waste industry and to grow as a professional writer and editor. This person will work with marketing and operational teams to build customized proposals and other written deliverables.

 

What You Will Do:

The Technical Writer and Editor will report to the Corporate Communications Director with a dotted line to the Senior Technical Writer and is a key contributor to the Communications and Municipal Marketing departments to include proposal building, business development, and external communications. This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work within a team, under pressure, and meet challenging deadlines.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Communication(s), Professional Writing, English, Journalism, or a humanities or social science field with strong writing background preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in writing and editing, preferably in the waste, construction, or utilities industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the skills to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the capability to own deadline-conscious projects from start to finish.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work within a team in a fast-paced, deadline-conscious, results-driven environment with a dedicated sense of urgency.
  • Capacity to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable for a non-expert audience.
  • Flexibility and competence to interact with all levels of the organization.
