Scheduler/Medical Assistant                        

Full Time

1st Shift                                                                                                               

This is a full time 40 hours per week position within Western Ohio OB/GYN.                                                                                                        

Qualifications:
  • Preferred completion of a recognized MA or LPN program at an accredited college or university.
  • 1+ years experience in direct patient care, family practice preferred
  • Proficient in medical terminology
  • Prior Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • 1 year of prior surgery scheduling preferred

 Responsibilities: 

  • Scheduler is responsible for the coordination of patient care between the physician office, the patient, and various hospital departments. This position is responsible for both surgery scheduling and backup clinical medical assistant coverage for providers in clinic as needed. 
  • Obtain prior authorizations and document the authorizations.
  • Efficiently schedules patients and secures accurate demographic, insurance, financial, and clinical information. 
  • Keep accurate record of surgeries scheduled and actively communicates with providers and hospital departments. 
  • Must have excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task with various hospital and clinic system applications. 
  • Under the direction of the provider during clinical assignments, contributes to the completion of the patient's chief complaint (including but not limited to respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight and temperature) and documentation of patient/family needs. Identifies significant changes in patient condition through data collection and reports them to the provider.
  • May support a variety of clerical office functions including calls, documentation, scanning, etc.
  • Within scope of Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse, demonstrates clinical knowledge and focuses on customer service to answer and triage patient telephone calls. Documents in EMR accurately and appropriately. Records complete and accurate messages and obtains necessary instructions from providers and nurses, etc. when appropriate.
  • Supports internal and external customers, to maintain a superior customer experience across the continuum of care through teamwork. Communicates professionally with patients, providers, and co-workers at all times. Actively participates and is engaged in staff meetings.
