SUMMARY: Under the Direction of the Director of Quality/Risk Management, the RN Quality Management Specialist will be accountable for collaborating with various departments/units to develop, achieve and maintain the “Stroke Ready” Certification through HFAP and the Chest Pain Certification through the American Heart Association. The RN Quality Specialist will be responsible for abstracting, validating, submitting and analyzing quality data to promote process improvements for best patient outcomes. This RN Quality Specialist will also assist with Patient Safety Initiatives as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Includes the following. Other duties as assigned. Develops, coordinates and maintains the structure and processes for achieving and maintaining the “Stroke Ready” Certification through HFAP and the Chest Pain Certification through the American Heart Association. Will function as Stroke Program Coordinator. Completes clinical quality reviews, data abstraction and timely submissions to appropriate outside entities and analyzes data for opportunities related to improving patient outcomes and improving processes. Uses LEAN methodology for monitoring and improving said opportunities. Assists with obtaining goals and objectives for the Quality Management Department to meet the strategy of the organization, as assigned. Assists with coordinating and reporting the elements of the hospital QAPI Plan. Assist with promoting a culture of safety through risk assessments based on observation and event reporting. Assists with hospital wide patient safety/quality initiatives as assigned. PERFORMS ADDITIONAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED WITHIN SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Nursing Degree – minimal BSN with at least 5 years direct care-nursing experience in acute care. Background in Quality Management in a healthcare setting preferred with a demonstrated ability to review and analyze data, utilize EXCEL, Word, Outlook and additional web based databases. Understanding of LEAN methodology preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret clinical data, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to critically think, work independently and effectively communicate and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively, lead teams and meetings, and maintain confidentiality of information. Accepts responsibility, demonstrates initiative, and promotes innovation.
