Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required

Work Experiences:

  • 2+ years' experience in fixed asset accounting
  • Experience applying US GAAP
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft General Ledger and asset management systems preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly/quarterly/year-end close process for fixed assets, lease accounting and any other assigned areas by ensuring activity is recorded and reconciled timely and accurately to the general ledger
  • Provide financial analysis, detailing variances on a month-over-month, year-over-year and actuals-to-budget basis while using judgment to assess levels of materiality
  • Acquire and analyze information in order to perform asset transactions including additions, adjustments, transfers, and disposals in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Financial Reporting, Tax) and external stakeholders (auditors) to ensure accuracy of fixed assets information (asset categories, roll forwards, capital spending etc.)
  • Work with other departments to ensure financial activity is in compliance with US GAAP and internal policies
  • Validate general ledger coding for capital spend throughout the Company; apply judgment when assessing “gray areas”
  • Independently, as well as with other departments, review and assess leases to ensure proper accounting treatment, including, but not limited to, lease classification, rent expense, common area maintenance expenses, tenant improvement allowances, and gains/losses resulting from sale leaseback transactions.
  • Work with other departments to ensure monthly capital and operating expense accruals are timely and accurate
  • Use judgment in identifying and preparing non-routine monthly journal entries and explaining the need for entry as required. Recommend change improvement of internal controls within SOX controls framework
  • When needed, troubleshoot system issues with our IT team - analyze the problems and recommend possible solutions; test solutions before implementing into production
  • Assist and/or act as a Subject Matter Expert in the implementation, enhancement and/or integration of IT applications and systems
  • Perform other core accounting activities such as preparing and uploading routine journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects as assigned
  • Assist Academy team members as requested
  • Develop thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures and safety rules
  • Associates may be required to perform other duties as assigned
