About the Role:

Can you bring your expertise in power systems to our Aluminium Smelter to build a challenging and rewarding career with us?

Our Portland Smelter is looking for suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis within our swithyard team.

You will play a key part in supporting our operations through:

  • Identifying long term opportunities for improvement through the provision of technical expertise with a focus on power systems equipment,

  • Providing single point accountability for engineering support within our operations,

  • Being a catalyst and contributing to improvements in performance in both the short and long term.

Your role as a Electrical Engineer will be challenging and diverse, and require a strong customer focus, great team mindset and a passion for continous improvement.

Working Monday through Friday, with one flexi leisure day every four-week period you will enjoy the challenges of a technical site role coupled with great work life balance.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, with previous experience in power systems.

  • Experience of working in a heavy industrial, manufacturing or smelting environment.

  • An understanding of risk management and quality improvement.

  • The ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organisation with a customer centric mentality.

  • A track record in pro-active problem solving with your use of initiative and a desire to continuously improve business performance.

About the Location

Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%). Alcoa manages the day-to-day operations at the smelter and we produce approximately 19 per cent of Australia's total aluminium production in Portland.  We are proud of the long-standing relationships we have within our local community and are committed to supporting social and diverse causes.
