Do you have a passion for helping people and ensuring their health & safety? Our Huntly Bauxite Mine is looking for a suitably qualified Emergency Servies Officer (ESO) to join the team and make a difference within an inclusive work environment! This position is on a 12-hour shift pattern consisting of days and nights, offering great work-life balance, and get to go home every night.

Our ESOs are the first responders in emergency situations by providing medical and rescue services to employees requiring treatment for illness or injury. You will be an active member of the fire and rescue teams on site and respond to incidents to protect personnel, company assets, the community and the environment.

Our ESOs are empowered to be autonomous and trustworthy. You will utilise your strong communication skills to build strong working relationships with key site personnel and direct contact with each of our work groups on the mine.

Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending to emergency and first aid calls and apply the appropriate medical treatment and care in accordance with approved clinical practice guidelines.

  • Responding to fire alarms or fire protection systems and provide support to fire crews.

  • Providing occasional medical centre assistance, along with general health and safety tasks.

  • Coordinating site access control and administration, including inspections and security patrols.

  • Conduct short term inductions for visitors and contractors.

  • Monitoring and maintaining alarm and security cameras

  • Reporting of incidents and assisting with Investigations

  • Monitoring Blasting operations.

  • Lone Worker movements.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Certificate IV in Health Care (HLT41115) with post course experience as a minimum.

  • Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (RII30715) or Certificate III in Public Safety - Firefighting and Emergency Operations (PUA30613) - Ideally with Confined Space Rescue.

  • Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing (HLTPAT005).

  • Clear experience in a similar role of First Aid, Health Care or Emergency Services.

  • A current police clearance.

  • Class A and HR licences.

  • Gate access systems experience well regarded.

  • Career or volunteer experience within Military or Emergency Services highly regarded .

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia and it is the world's second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa's Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA.
