About the role:

Alcoa Warrick is looking for a Power Plant Reliability Engineer and the primary focus of this position is root cause problem solving. The main function is to identify and accurate the causes equipment failures inside the plant. This effort will improve the Reliability Excellence initiatives by enhancing the Root Cause analysis within the Predictive and Preventative Maintenance organizational structure. The purpose of this role is to reduce O&M budget expenditures by identifying and correcting the root causes of events and growing operational up-time and overall equipment reliability.

Main responsibilities:
  • Lead salaried personnel in plant Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) processes to ensure corrective actions and repairs are appropriate and timely in their execution.
  • Implement solutions to repetitive failures and other maintenance problems.
  • Work directly with the Planners to evaluate work requests and identify events that require root cause evaluation.
  • Constant review of Preventative Maintenance activities and make adjustments to the scope and schedule of PM activities based upon data collected by the Predictive Maintenance Group.
  • Direct management of Power Plant's Predictive Maintenance Department (Electrical & Mechanical) which includes direct supervision of 5 hourly employees.
  • Evaluate and improve the Reliability Groups processes and procedures, including deployment of new technologies, training of employees in data gathering, and development of asset health communication metrics for upper management.
  • Use Degree of Implementation and Cost Avoidance submissions to supervise results of Operational improvements and R&M spending reductions.
  • Manage the Reliability Group's departmental budget and for the planning of contract work and supervising contract labor.
  • Provide highly specialized technical support for systems fixing procedures and documentation.
  • Support plant engineering, maintenance and operations personnel and systems to ensure plant process/equipment reliability.
  • Support programs sought at developing skilled maintenance and operating personnel in the deployment of an "Operational Excellence"
What you can bring to the role:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, technical field or equivalent experience with significant experience
  • 10+ years of heavy industry experience
  • Supervisory Experience with union supervision experience preferred
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong understanding and ability to quickly comprehend electrical and mechanical systems and failure modes.
  • Proven problem-solving using data.
  • Effective team leader and team member that energizes others.
  • Ability to influence business leaders, peers, and team members expertly with data, logic and presentation skills.
