In this role, as our Regional Health & Safety Consultant you will be ensuring the safety culture is enhanced by providing support and deliver effective implementation of Health and Safety Programs alongside legislation changes to improve health and safety objectives and targets across our Australian locations.

Your key activities and contributions will be:

  • Build positive relationships to influence senior managers, strengthen consultative processes, remove division, and drive continuous improvement in safety culture.

  • Supporting location Safety and L&D through coaching to deliver Health and Safety Programs and changes and collaborating with Hygiene and the Environmental teams on HSE related projects.

  • Conducting trend / data analysis, interrogating governance safety systems to ensure continuous improvement and value adding by initiating and participating in projects where gaps have been identified.

  • Support the implementation of Health and Safety management strategy, framework, and programs for risk reduction across WAO locations.

  • Monitoring and reviewing Health and Safety Programs and objectives and facilitate actions to deliver improvement in measurable safety outcomes.

  • Conducting audits, risk assessments, gap analysis, reports and presentations as required to support any Health and Safety Program needs.

What you can bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications within a Safety related field will be considered favourably.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and effective application of Australian codes and standards as well as the applicable statutory requirements and local legislation.

  • Health and safety experience within a similar operational / heavy industry environment.

  • Achievements in implementing organisational changes with an ability to influence and collaborate at levels.

  • A detailed mind and ability to balance priorities between problem solving making practical decisions to deliver best safety outcomes.

  • Experience in auditing, coaching, consultation and project management.

  • An ability to apply sound judgement and decision making in difficult circumstances.
