The Role:

The AMD Law Department is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join the Patent & Technology Law team.  You will work in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where you will support technology and intellectual property transactions, counsel clients on engineering and business matters, develop legal guidelines, and collaborate with attorneys and paralegals in support of AMD's business and technical objectives.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of collaboration and initiative, as well as critical and objective judgment, in providing guidance, support and legal advice to stakeholders at multiple levels throughout the organization both within and outside the Law Department. This position requires both hands-on and strategic expertise, with a next-level customer service orientation in all aspects of execution.  Job duties are expected to include:

The Person:

  • Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with clients and colleagues across the company at all levels to achieve a common goal while taking into consideration both legal and business issues.
  • Possesses the ability to work independently on complex issues requiring in-depth analysis and evaluation of intangibles.
  • Is a self-starter who can work as a team with the clients, paralegals, and other attorneys to find creative ways to solve problems to achieve goals for the company.
  • Understands how a large company operates and knows when it is appropriate to escalate issues and to whom.
  • Makes sound judgments and recommendations based on collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues both within and outside the Law Department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to multitask and prioritize workload and competing priorities.
  • Is efficient, effective, and well-organized and enjoys learning about cutting-edge technology.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of organization, individual initiative and personal accountability.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, negotiating and client counseling related to technology and intellectual property transactions and associated legal
  • Working closely with technical and business professionals to help achieve their objectives.
  • Reviewing legal issues related to AI solutions and developing associated legal guidelines.
  • Developing and delivering training to clients regarding legal and compliance issues.
  • Coordinating with various internal stakeholders, including other business units, operations, global trade and finance/accounting in support of transactions.

 

Preferred Experience:

 

  • law firm and/or in-house experience.
  • Experience in technology transactions, AI solutions, and intellectual property law.
  • Experience working with various levels in a company from senior leaders to individual contributors who work in technical and business capacities.
  • Experience in the semiconductor or computing industry is preferred.

Academic Credentials

Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent and admission to practice law in a U.S. state
