THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for talented, detail-oriented and motivated design verification engineers who are interested in functional verification of x86 microprocessor cores. You'll have the opportunity to work on and learn about some of the industry's cutting edge micro-architectural designs while you create verification plans for new design features and architectural enhancements. Your contributions will impact products that span the global x86 market from server, to desktop and laptop designs.
THE PERSON:
You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/timezones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Defining and implementing test plans including stimulus, checking and functional coverage plans.
- Debugging regression fails and fixing verification issues or working with designers to fix design bugs.
- Analyzing functional coverage and closing holes.
- Assist with silicon observations often requiring replication of behaviors in simulation to root cause.
- Developing stimulus with x86 Assembly and/or AMD's internal ISA exercisers.
Writing System Verilog/UVM tests with constrained randomization.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Strong knowledge of microprocessor architecture (x86 preferred).
- A passion for computer architecture
- Object Oriented Programming with System Verilog, UVM, and C/C++.
- Scripting with Perl or equivalent languages.
- Simulation and debug with a Verilog based functional simulator.
- x86 Assembly language
- General functional verification experience with digital designs.
- Working experience in UNIX software environment.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor of Science in EE, CE, or CS with related industry experience OR Masters of Science in EE, CE, or CS
