Director of Product Concepts Engagement and Execution

 

THE ROLE:

This role demands a seasoned professional with strong technical expertise in server platforms and an adept ability to navigate the complex interplay between hardware and software in HPC and AI solutions. By facilitating a close collaboration with our Instinct platform and product architects, lead system designers, and firmware developers, you will be key to shaping future AI and HPC products that stand out in the market and provide unrivaled value to our customers.

 

The role will be leading a team of technical leaders who have expertise in server system design focused on AI and HPC implementations.  There will be intense engagements across all of our system design ODM and OEM partners as we work together to build the best systems as building blocks to our customers AI and HPC needs.  

 

THE PERSON:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director to join our Systems Design Engineering team. In this critical role, you will drive the technical vision and provide systems design guidance to key OEM, ODM, and MDC partners  for our Instinct products and solutions.  This will involve analyzing hardware and low level system requirements and specifications across a wide spectrum of technologies, ensuring a holistic and optimally constrained platform stack spanning silicon and platform hardware and software.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and drive design review processes of our customers base system implementations and flag areas that could be modified to improve quality, performance, security, or other areas key for their competitiveness.
  • Provide architectural guidance and support to our SDE team and customers as we help them adapt their HPC and AI servers developed with our competition's GPU solution to our MI300 product.
  • Engage with customers on requirements for form factor and power during concept and pre-sales timeframe, shaping the overall technical direction of our HPC solutions.
  • Engage with third-party hardware partners (IHV, memory, VR, etc.), ensuring optimal compatibility and integration with our HPC platform.
  • Ensure we have optimal CPU & GPU base platform tools that enable us to optimize quality and schedule.
  • Provide strategic oversight for our AMD participation in industry consortiums, driving forward key HPC initiatives.
  • Drive future product architecture influence, leveraging insights from deep customer execution engagements.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong relationships with customers, engaging in dialogue to understand their needs and aligning our product development accordingly.
  • Experience working with server ODMs & OEMs and MDCs in delivering complex solutions together at significant scale.
  • Experience overseeing global hardware development and validation, ensuring robust and reliable systems. 
  • History of influencing architectural direction through product execution learnings.   

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent proven industry experience leading very technical engineers on complex projects.
