The Role:
As an intern with our industry-leading Graphics IP team, you will be involved in architecting, designing, and verifying AMD's Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). You will work on current development projects for Graphics and Machine Learning GPUs, contributing to architecture, high-speed digital design, and verification using the latest industry-standard tools and methodologies.
This internship lasts up to 3 months over the summer university holiday period.
The Person:
- You are a hands-on technical engineer passionate about working in deep tech.
- You have demonstrated an interest in hardware engineering, digital systems, or graphics through your studies or extracurricular activities.
- You are an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- You are a fast learner who breaks problems down and asks questions to make progress.
- You enjoy collaborating in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with architects, hardware engineers, and verification engineers to understand requirements.
- Create and review microarchitecture specifications and test plans.
- Design hardware components using Verilog.
- Implement verification environments using SystemVerilog/UVM, DPV Formal, or FPV Formal.
- Debug test failures, resolve design defects, and correct errors.
- Contribute to the review of functional and code coverage metrics.
- Improve AMD's design and verification environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Hardware design using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
- Hardware verification using HDL testbenches and hardware simulators or CocoTB.
- Software development using C++ or other object-oriented languages.
- Knowledge of the graphics pipeline.
Academic Credentials:
- Completing the third year of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
