MTS/SMTS SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
As a low power lead in AMD India cores team, you will work to verify power of low power cores and work with wider team to drive convergence.
THE PERSON:
You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification in general. You will be working on Power design/implementation/signoff, and will act as a mentor/coach/guide to Design Engineers. Will work very closely with Fellows, Principal Engineers, Architects, Technology/CAD teams and collaborate with cross functional worldwide teams. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/time zones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with verification team to develop power vectors for estimation and optimization.
- Establish comprehensive power analysis plans and collaborate closely with the physical implementation team throughout the project lifecycle to ensure low power implementation and optimization.
- Oversee and manage power convergence and sign-off procedures across various SOC classes.
- Conduct RTL power analysis and work with RTL design teams to enhance overall power efficiency by improving clock gate efficiency, datapath power, using frontend power estimation tools.
- Partner with Physical Design teams to optimize critical power parameters such as Multibit, VT usage to reduce gate-level power.
- Evaluate and approve power metrics for cores and cache across various use cases.
- Undertake low power design initiatives that include power estimation, addressing annotation issues, and employing optimization techniques like clock gating, power gating, power switch implementation, and other methods to reduce total power consumption.
Preferred Experience
- 10-15 years of relevant work experience.
- Familiar with low power design
- Handling different power analysis tools - PTPX, prime power, PA, PPRTL
- Understanding of RTL to GDS2 flow
- Should have good scripting experience in Shell, Python, Perl, TCL, UNIX along with decode/debug old existing scripts.
- Strong communication skills, ability to multi-task across projects, and work with geographically spread out teams
- Good understanding of computer organization/architecture is preferred.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
