The Role:

We are seeking a special individual contributor looking to make a huge impact growing AMD business with one of our largest hyperscale customers. This is an exciting, commissioned, technical sales role in the fast-growing Datacenter business within AMD. As a critical part of the team that is driving AMD's Amazon business, the Cloud Applications Engineer owns the technical engagement with Amazon users of Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and other compute offerings, and is accountable to the Amazon global account manager for achieving overall revenue goals for datacenter processors and accelerators across all Amazon businesses.

 

The successful Cloud Applications Engineer is a passionate learner and vocal customer advocate. You will use knowledge of EC2 instance types, the differentiated advantages of AMD datacenter product offerings, and your knowledge of databases, AI/ML workloads, serverless models, etc. to guide your customers to the best AMD solution. Success in this role is measured by individual wins with Amazon businesses and the overall AMD datacenter revenue sold into Amazon.

  • AWS compute specialist or solution architect wanting to make a bigger impact 
  • Enterprise cloud architect or cloud-native architect with extensive EC2 experience and excellent people and communications skills 
  • Cloud developer looking to learn more about processor architecture 
  • Technically proficient, outgoing, proactive, organized, driven, self-motivated and self-sufficient, yet collaborative and willing to assist teammates with their own unique challenges 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Nurture technical proficiency in AMD Datacenter processors and accelerators available within AWS EC2 and how the architecture of these processors impacts performance on common cloud workloads 
  • Assist sales in the development and execution of the sales approach for various Amazon and AWS opportunities 
  • Cultivate relationships with key technical stakeholders within Amazon 
  • Drive architectural discussions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful deployment of solutions in the cloud 
  • Design and execute proofs of concept 
  • Build a solid understanding of the competitive landscape within EC2 and customer demands to provide feedback to AMD design and product marketing teams 
  • Self-motivated self-improvement (training and education) on relevant technical topics 
  • Work from home with domestic travel up to 40% 

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Excellent English verbal, written and presentation communications skills 
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in one or more of DynamoDB, EKS, ECS, EMR, Fargate, Lambda, MSK, OpenSearch, RDS, RedShift, SageMaker 
  • History of success through applied prioritization and time management, program management, issue tracking and organizational skills 
  • Demonstrated success working remotely 
  • Customer-facing experience 
  • Contribution to technical customer facing collateral such as blogs, solution briefs, whitepapers 
  • Knowledge of software development tools  
  • Experience in application/workload profiling, tuning and performance assessment a plus

 

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field (Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred) 
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate 
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional a plus
