THE ROLE:

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about resilient supply chains and new product direct procurement sourcing possessing significant experience defining proposals for executive decision making and creating summary customer communications as a supply chain subject matter expert. Actively contributing as part of a Systems and Processes team, the incumbent will work with procurement, supply chain and external manufacturing operations professionals to establish and maintain high-quality processes enabling and demonstrating new product sourcing decisions and Supply Chain risk management metrics and plans.  Candidate should also demonstrate significant initiative to identify and implement direct procurement functional improvement opportunities.

 

 

THE PERSON:

This position requires an initiative-taker with process, data management and executive communication skills who will quickly develop new product sourcing proposals and supply chain risk management procedures and contribute to a collaborative and collaborative work environment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and advance AMD's supply chain risk management and disruption response process as leader of the Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) team and function as Disruption Response Project Manager during a disruption event in our supply chain.
  • Utilize capabilities of AMD's supply chain mapping and risk management platform as process enablement tool. Identify and address platform gaps vs AMD business needs and define internal workaround(s) if necessary.
  • Lead SCRM Team to achieve these Team Roles and Responsibilities
    • Establish disruption alert levels and severity thresholds.
    • Establish activation criteria for disruption management process.
    • Conduct table-top drills to test Business Continuity Plan (BCP) effectiveness.
    • Engage members of the Supply Chain Disruption Response Team (SC-DRT)
    • Establish communication protocols and war-room activation protocols.
    • Develop disruption mitigation infrastructure (physical war-room, bridge line, training material, collaboration data space(s))
    • Define disruption mitigation governance processes.
    • Lead post-event activities including document capture, communication, lessons learned.
  • Primary Direct Procurement point of contact to handle AMD customer inquiries requiring Procurement subject matter expertise. Inquiries usually originate from AMD Quality or AMD Customer Operations. 
  • Responsible to take initiative, demonstrate pro-active leadership including defining opportunities for continuous improvement, documenting, and taking action to deliver the improvement.
  • Accountable for and leader of the Sourcing Council's working team. This team has a weekly cadence and engages multiple GOQ functions to review, improve and prepare new product supply chain and sourcing proposals, or change proposals, for presentation to GOQ's Sourcing Council. 
  • Ready resource to facilitate Sourcing Council meetings as may be required.
  • Represent Global Operations in establishing and AMD Product Compliance team / committee and improvement program. Provide input and influence to set up a corporate level cross functional team to oversee all of AMD's product compliance processes. 
  • Procurement function representative to AMD's Product Lifecycle Management core team, owner of product lifecycle management “item” completion, and summary status communication at product gate reviews.
  • Procurement function owner for Deal Tracker deal initiation (in AMD's Workfront system) as a Deal Manager.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge/experience contributing to or leading supply chain risk management processes in electronics or semiconductor industries. 
  • Knowledge/experience handling customer inquiries and analyzing supply chain sourcing information by customer, product family, and by sourcing structure (sole source, single source, multi-source). 
  • Experience developing and delivering executive briefing content regarding product sourcing structure, product cost, qualification costs and timelines. 
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, Project Management skills
  • Upbeat initiative-taker who thrives in a challenging environment.
  • Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven aptitude handling data systems and managing data.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
