THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking an International Sr. Tax Manager to join our corporate tax team. In this role, you will participate in the management and execution of AMD Tax Department responsibilities, including:

  • Oversight of tax reporting and compliance for EMEA and Canada,
  • Tax audit support,
  • US and global tax provision review
  • Support and participation in global tax planning  

 

THE PERSON:

 

The successful candidate is someone with strong income tax knowledge in European, and US income tax. This role will appeal to a candidate who is a self-starter with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and who thinks critically to identify, assess and resolve intricate tax issues. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to clearly explain complex tax concepts to business partners. This person will report to the Director of Field International Tax.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the corporate income tax compliance and quarterly tax provision process for EMEA
  • Support US domestic and international tax team with quarter-end and year-end closing process
  • Prepare and review tax accounting analysis. Manage tax accounting and deferred tax accounting based on US GAAP and IFRS
  • Support the International Tax Director on key aspects of tax planning initiatives and other projects, including group restructuring, reorganizations, BEPS planning and other commercial transactions as they arise
  • Manage tax risk, audits and controversies within EMEA.
  • Perform technical research related to the tax effects of various business transactions and/or the effects of proposed and newly enacted tax legislation on the AMD business
  • Manage relationships with external consultants and tax firms
  • Prepare supporting documentation for Sox purposes and work with internal and external auditors as required
  • Manage and review intra-group transactions to ensure compliance with group transfer pricing policy
  • Be a key participant within the global AMD finance team in identifying, analyzing and implementing tax solutions

 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 8+ years of international tax experience in Big 4 or within the tax function of a MNC . Technology sector experience preferred.
  • Experience with income tax provision and compliance in the key EMEA countries; knowledge of Canadian income tax is plus
  • Good technical knowledge and demonstrated hands-on experience with tax issues of large multinational high-tech companies.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc.) and other applications such as SAP and OTP.
  • Ability to design and build concise work papers and tax models
  • Clear aptitude to prioritize tasks, execute with accuracy and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on a flexible work schedule as required to liaise with foreign colleagues in different time zones
  • Experience working across a broad range of tax heads – Corporate Tax, Income Tax, and Transfer Pricing

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Degree in tax, accounting, business or finance
  • AITI qualified or equivalent
  • Fluent in English, other language capabilities a strong plus, SAP, income tax software, research tools and other office skills are plus
