THE ROLE: 

The System Level Debug Engineering team plays a critical role in delivering high‑quality microprocessors to customers on schedule. As a System Debug Engineer, you will analyze system‑level failures on Enterprise Server platforms, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions. You will also contribute to the development and improvement of debug platforms, test suites, and high‑volume production test programs.

This role collaborates closely with Product & Test Engineering, Customer Quality, design and software/platform teams to drive optimized, cost‑effective engineering solutions.

THE PERSON: 

You are a resourceful and independent problem‑solver with strong analytical skills and experience in system‑level debug. You are comfortable working with hardware, firmware, and software interactions, and can communicate technical findings clearly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Solves complex, novel, and non-recurring problems; initiate significant changes to existing processes/methods and leads development and implementation 
• Conduct engineering evaluations and analysis to drive closure of production issues 
• Influences technical decisions that have a significant impact on final product 
• Develop and apply new debug techniques to enhance technical depth in Product and Test Engineering 
• Involves collaboration on or assuming the consultative or leadership responsibilities for a specific project or for product development initiatives 
• May provide technical supervision or mentoring junior engineers 
• Has accountability for results in a particular area of work 
• Upscale overall team capabilities on low level system debug for both the AMD server enterprise product families 
• Driving technical innovation to improve AMD's capabilities across debug effectiveness, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• 5+ years relevant industry experience
• Solid understanding of high‑speed digital design, signal integrity, DDR memory, and standard interfaces (PCIe, USB, SATA, xGMI).
• Knowledge of BIOS, Firmware, OS, and driver interactions at the system level.
• Strong understanding of x86 CPU architecture.
• Programming/scripting skills (C, C++, Perl, Ruby, Python).
• Proficiency with Windows, Unix, and Linux environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• BS/MS in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
