THE ROLE: 

As part of the AMD Server Performance Group, the role encompasses end-to-end engineering, from concept development to pre-silicon design tradeoffs to full-stack optimization in silicon. On a day-to-day basis, the role can include high-level architecture proposals, performance modeling, pre-silicon performance validation, workload characterization, and/or silicon-based analysis. 

 

This team works closely with the silicon design teams to influence next generation AMD EPYC products.

 

THE PERSON: 

You want to focus on evaluating and optimizing the system-wide performance of Server platforms. You want to focus on the performance of system-level interactions between components like CPUs, storage, Smart NICs, GPUs, on-chip acceleration engines, off-chip accelerators, and software. You have a strong background in I/O. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Should have Senior level architect experience.
  • Strong background in I/O.
  • Extensive experience in performance analysis.
  • Architecture background of one or more non-CPU System Components
  • Industry experience in system performance modeling and/or workload characterization
  • Background in System Architecture Research.
  • Familiarity with classic Server NIC and disk I/O performance.
  • Comfortable collaborating with other architects, researching options, proposing new solutions, presenting ideas to engineers, and leading small teams of engineers.
  • Must have good communication, organization, and mentoring skills.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in computer engineering/electrical engineering preferred.
