SOFTWARE DESIGN ENGINEER 

 

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a fast learning, dynamic software design engineer to join the Custom & Strategic Engineering team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.

 

This position will offer a strong career path within a fast-paced environment where you will develop your skills working with cutting-edge AMD products, FPGA technology, tools, and next-generation architecture.

 

You will join a team whose architecture and systems activities cover a wide range of disciplines including machine learning, modelling and analysis of modern heterogeneous multicore architectures, embedded computing applications and, also host software drivers and applications.

 

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for Software engineering development, and is diligent and passionate about Technology.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Specify and develop Software for use in Linux (userspace and kernel) and standalone products.

· Architect, design and implement software subsystems to control AMD hardware solutions.

· Collaborate closely with multiple teams and Project Managers to deliver highly scalable, durable, and innovative solutions.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

· Experience with C/C++.

· Experience with driver and infrastructure development for a Linux environment.

· Experience in low level driver development, register interface programming, general algorithms, and data structures.

· Experience with processors such as x86 CPUs, GPUs, and ARM.

· Experience with industrial standard devices e.g. Ethernet TCP/UDP, PCIe and Memory architectures DDR/SDRAM/DMA.

· Experience in HDL design on FPGA platforms is an advantage.

· Scripting language experience like Python, TCL, Bash is an advantage.

· Proven track record of delivering software projects that exceed customer quality expectations.

· Experience in writing technical documentation, including Specifications, Test Plans and User Guides.

· A self-starter and team player, with a positive attitude and good inter-personal skills.

 

Qualifications

· Degree in Computer or Electronic Engineering or similar qualification

· Minimum Experience:

o Bachelor's degree + 4 years,

o Master's degree + 3 years,

o PhD + 1 year
