AMD together we advance_

We're looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of AMD's  ROCm software stack. In this role, you will design, implement, and scale test frameworks and test suites that validate APIs, toolchains, and runtime behavior across GPU architectures, drivers, and operating environments. You'll collaborate closely with compiler/runtime developers, driver teams, and CI/CD infrastructure engineers to ship high-quality releases that meet our correctness, conformance, and performance goals.

What you'll do:

  • Create and maintain automated and manual tests.
  • Run tests across different systems and GPUs, track and report results.
  • Investigate failures, identify clear steps to reproduce, and work with developers to resolve issues.
  • Help improve our test processes, coverage, and release readiness.
  • Support regular release qualification and ongoing improvements to test reliability.

What we're looking for:

  • Exposure to GPU programming (CUDA, HIP, OpenCL) or high-performance computing.
  • Proficiency in at least two scripting languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, JAX, CNTK, or R.
  • Familiarity with ML models such as Stable Diffusion, LLaMA, Whisper, BERT, ResNet, etc.
  • Experience with OS SDKs and developer tools in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Strong understanding of software quality assurance processes and open-source software.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.

Success looks like

  • Increased automated coverage and fewer manual steps.
  • Reliable test runs with fast feedback.
  • Clear, actionable bug reports and faster resolution of issues.
  • Stable releases across different systems and GPU generations.

Why join

  • Work on high-impact software used by developers and researchers worldwide.
  • Collaborate with experienced teams across software, tools, and hardware.
  • Opportunity to shape test strategy and automation at scale.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
