THE ROLE:

The Community Affairs team advances corporate objectives through strategic external and internal relationships, engaged employee culture via volunteerism and giving, global grant making, and leadership as a responsible and ethical company.

 

Support the team through implementation of the company's community engagement strategy and action plan.  The Community Affairs Representative will be responsible for coordinating volunteer events in Austin,

 

THE PERSON:

As the Community Relations Representative You are passionate about community volunteering, and engagement, and you are experienced in building relationships and coordinating event logistics and recruiting volunteers. You are outgoing and can speak in front of groups in public.  You are an effective  communicator, both verbally and in writing.  You have good copy writing, editing and proofreading skills, good problem-solving skills, are highly organized and have good interpersonal skills.  You have a positive attitude, are a team player and no challenge is too big because you can work in a fast-paced environment. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build/maintain relationships with nonprofit partners in Austin
  • Organize, coordinate and participate in volunteer events in Austin designed to elevate the company's standing in the community and enhance employee engagement.
  • Support and coordinate community affairs communications activities regarding the promotion of local volunteer events, program updates, and other related materials with employees, nonprofits and community organizations.
  • Track key metrics that pertain to community engagement and employee engagement.
  • Collect and review grant stewardship reports to ensure goals and outcomes were met.
  • Accurately maintain global grants tracker.
  • Administrator for the AMD matching gifts and volunteer reward program with various day to day functions and reporting. Experience with Benevity is a plus.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees, and community members, addressing inquiries, and provide feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Conduct research and stay up to date on local community trends, needs, and issues.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the position.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours for select events and activities.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in community affairs, event planning, marketing communications, public relations, or nonprofit experience. 
  • Familiarity with community organizations, programs and nonprofit groups.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint.
  • Strong organization skills with ability to handle multiple projects while timely meeting deadlines.
  • Detail oriented and skilled in event planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals from various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Proficient with digital communication tools.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and quickly develop new skills.
  • Familiarity with employee matching gifts programs and software platforms such as Benevity, YourCause, Deed, Cyber Grants.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
