Performance Tools Development Manager

 

Join our dynamic team where you'll play a pivotal role in empowering the AMD Instinct GPU Performance Team with the essential tools to seamlessly execute a multitude of AI and HPC workloads, enabling insightful visualization and in-depth analysis of results. We are actively seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Manager to spearhead our Tool Team, leveraging your extensive expertise in software tools development and deployment. This position demands a unique combination of technical prowess, strong leadership acumen, and a hands-on approach to coding and development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of software development engineers, providing strong, hands-on technical guidance and career development support.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance for all software development activities. Drive innovation and efficiency in software development practices.
  • Actively participate in coding and development tasks. Lead by example and maintain coding skills through regular hands-on work.
  • Drive technical architecture decisions, capacity plans, tooling needs, and automation plans.
  • Collaborate with our team to ensure software solutions align with needs and goals.
  • Deliver software solutions on time with high quality, supporting the performance team's roadmap
  • Continuously assess and improve development processes and practices. Implement best practices in agile methodologies, code review, and quality assurance.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Evaluate and recommend new technologies that could enhance the team's software solutions.
  • Provide clear and timely communication related to status and other key aspects of the projects to leadership

 

Experience

  • 7+ years of software engineering work experience, including 3+ years of hands-on technical management.
  • Full understanding of modern software development life cycle stages - design, implementation, documentation, and testing of software code implementing product features and requirements.
  • Proven track record in managing software development projects from conception to delivery utilizing Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong full-stack coding and software development background with a focus on JavaScript, React, and Python.
  • Strong Linux experience and SQL/noSQL databases such as MongoDB, InfluxDB and MySQL.
  • Experience with GitHub, Jupyter, Docker, Ansible is nice to have.
  • Hands-on experience with designing, configuring and deploying software solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with various stakeholders.

 

Academic Credentials

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related equivalent from top university

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.  Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
