Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead a team of performance engineers focused on Vulkan and OpenGL driver optimizations for AMD discrete and integrated GPUs across Windows and Linux platforms. In this role, you will oversee the development of performance tools, driver optimizations, and GPU hardware/software co-design initiatives to maximize graphics performance. You will drive cross-functional collaboration with hardware, software, and external partners to ensure AMD GPUs deliver industry-leading efficiency and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers specializing in Vulkan/OpenGL driver performance optimizations.
- Define technical roadmaps for performance analysis tools, driver enhancements, and future GPU optimizations.
- Align team priorities with AMD's GPU architecture and software roadmap.
- Performance Optimization & Tools Development
- Oversee the creation of internal profiling tools to accelerate performance debugging and analysis.
- Drive optimizations in OpenGL/Vulkan drivers to maximize GPU utilization.
- Work closely with hardware architects, driver developers, and game/application engineers to optimize performance.
Preferred Experience
- Strong background in GPU driver development, performance analysis, or graphics programming.
- Deep understanding of Vulkan, OpenGL, or DX12 APIs and their performance characteristics.
- Knowledge of GPU hardware architecture (SIMD, caching, threading, power/performance trade-offs).
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in performance optimization or driver development.
- Ability to set technical direction, prioritize projects, and mentor engineers.
- Strong cross-team collaboration skills with hardware, software, and external partners.
- Excellent ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions to both engineers and executives.
