THE ROLE: 

We are looking for a dynamic, upbeat Sr. Software Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.  

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for Software engineering development, and is diligent and passionate about improving the performance of our products and the efficiency of our analysis capabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Develop/Modify tools and infrastructure used for performance analysis and studies
• Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver solutions and the technology to support them 
• Look for the best out of the box solutions to solve problems or develop our own tools as needed

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• Experience building and maintaining web applications is ideal, with a focus on backend development
• Experience with a specific backend programming language like Python, Java, PHP, or Node.js is required
• A portfolio showcasing previous web development work, especially backend development projects is a plus

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Proficiency in a backend programming language like Python, Java, PHP, or Node.js (specify which language(s) are most important for your project)
• Experience with backend frameworks for your chosen language (e.g., Django for Python, Spring for Java, Laravel for PHP, Express.js for Node.js)
• Experience with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB),  writing database queries, scheduling data backups, accessing from existing databases,  and experience with database design and normalization
• Experience with storing user preferences on the server-side using techniques like cookies, sessions, or databases.
• Experience with RESTful APIs
• Understanding of server administration concepts and experience working with web servers (Apache, Nginx)
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Experience with secure session management techniques to prevent unauthorized access (e.g., session timeout, secure storage)
• Version control system proficiency (Git)

• Excellent communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Time management skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.  Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position. You may be eligible for incentives based upon your role such as either an annual bonus or sales incentive.
