The Role:

The Client Hardware Development team has an opportunity for Hardware Engineer, with electrical engineering background focused on AMD CPU APU Client Hardware Board level lab debug, repair, bring up and EE validation support focused on both internal and external motherboard designs.

The Person:

We're looking for a Hardware Engineer who enjoys spending time in the lab debugging and troubleshooting circuit boards. Must be able to multi-task to meet deadlines, strong problem solving (regression) skills, strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to research, read and follow technical instructions, schematics and PC Layouts. Enthusiastically work with others, display team spirit and support group decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a lab team while also troubleshooting and repairing PC x86 motherboards down to component level
  • Execute EE focused design/validation experiments with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to troubleshoot motherboard down to component level
  • Run and load software to x86 windows platform
  • Soldering and hands-on lab debugging

Preferred Experience:
Prior years of experience in PC x86 motherboard troubleshooting and debugging PC Hardware set up and configuration install and configure processors, hard drives, network cards, memory etc.

  • PC x86 Architecture experience system level knowledge of the following subsystems:
    • Memory, PC Buses (PC1-E, USB, SATA, Ethernet, Processor, Chipset)
    • Preferred OS requirements install, set-up, configure and troubleshoot: MS Windows OS, Linux OS. X86 SW exp. configure and change
      BIOS settings: install and configure device drivers: install and set up applications.
  • Able to clearly communicate oral and written English (email, submit issues and document test results)
  • Good organizational skills, ability to plan, prioritize and manage assigned workload; efficiently execute multiple projects at the same time.
  • Quick learner, ability to pick up and learn new concepts, applications and operating systems in a short period of time.

Academic Credentials:  

Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and 5+ years of relevant experience
