Job Summary

Reporting to the Deal Desk Manager and being part of the Deal Desk Team, Deal Desk Analyst will work closely with the Deal Desk Manager to oversee and manage the “Quote-to-Cash” process.  You will perform market research and analysis at the levels of business sector, customer and competitors.  In the pre-award phase of deals you will assess, validate and collaborate on processing of pipeline Enquiries and support the contract execution process.  You will collaborate with a range of commercial, operational and subject-matter experts including Outside Sales, Sales Ops., Legal Counsel, IT Team, and Group Functions.  The Deal Desk Analyst will be a steward of the company's long-term profitability and price risk management, avoiding a “whatever the client asks for” approach.

What a typical day looks like:

1 Early pipeline and deal feasibility:
• Review new pipeline Enquiries and assess whether the deal is objectively feasible and attractive
• Have upfront discussions with Sales Leads on pricing strategy and tactics for RFP/RFQ submission
• Provide clear indicators and justified reasoning on Bid/No Bid decision, backed up by analysis
• Provide other commercial inputs into RFP/RFQ submissions and clarification responses
2 Pre-award deal activities:
• Validate deal target price accuracy, integrity and compliance
• Track deal progress and status
• Monitor and resolve gating issues that may delay deals –pricing/cost deficiencies, contract bottlenecks,
product specification uncertainty, ambiguities in scope of supply
• Drive cross-functional resolution on any issues impact deal closure (internal and external stakeholders)
• Assess credit risk of new client accounts and/or for existing clients seeking to trade through SPVs
• Validate contract billing procedure and provide milestone billing scheme proposals where relevant
• Support Deal Desk Manager to process Surety Bonds, Bank Guarantees and similar instruments
• Collaborate with Sales Ops. in the uploading of new contracts into ERP system and Contracts Database

3 Analysis and reporting:
• Track key Deal Desk kpis including win rate, deal cycle time, budgetary margin and Enquiry-to-Order conversion
• Build and maintain Deal Desk dashboards and performance scorecards for internal visibility
• Support executive internal reporting on deal pipeline, margin trends, risks and opportunities
• Analyze deal-level margin trends, discounting behaviour and pricing exceptions to identify margin improvement
• Analyze customer behaviours and contract delivery patterns
• Perform lessons-learned review of unsuccessful enquiries and look for patterns and trends
• Provide strategic pricing insights based on own analysis and feedback from Sales Leads and clients
• Support Deal Desk Manager to conduct market intelligence gathering, competitor pricing comparisons and the development of pricing strategies
4 Other contributions:
• Actively participate in the development, implementation and enhancement of future automation tools
• Contribute to the ongoing development of Deal Desk processes, tools and team knowledge
• Provide general cover for other members of the team

The experience/qualification we're looking to add to our team:

  • Solid research competence and experienced in market research and competitor analysis
  • Strong analytical approach
  • Experienced in raw data cleansing, normalisation and manipulation
  • Experienced with analytical tools (Tableau, SQL, advanced Excel functionality)
  • Passion for pricing analysis, price validation and benchmarking
