Responsibilities
Position Highlights:
* Opportunity to practice evidence-based care with a strong emphasis on patient safety and resident education.
* Assigned shifts (12-13 hours) to function, in conjunction with nursing leadership, as the clinical supervisor in labor and delivery, the gynecology unit, operating room and emergency department.
* There is backup and support of subspecialties in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
* There is 24-hour OB Anesthesia coverage, a special care nursery with onsite neonatal nurse practitioners, a full trauma service and a fully staffed intensive care unit.
* Core clinical site for Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (MSU CHM) and has affiliations with the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine.

Candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment with MSU CHM, with access to all the resources of a Big Ten University. We also have a Department Research Committee designed to assist all our Faculty with any academic interests they wish to pursue.
Responsibilities:
* Act as on-site clinical director of Labor & Delivery with collaboration of the Director of Obstetrics, Director of Obstetric Nursing and Chairman of the Department.
* Supervise the care of resident clinic patients and patients without an attending physician.
* Attend and supervise the care and deliveries of patients whose attending obstetrician is not available.

Requirements
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required Credential(s):
Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
Preferred Credential(s):
Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.
Additional Preferences
Preferred Credential(s)
Completion of an accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program.
BC in specialty.
