Atrium Health's Department of Pediatrics at Wake Forest School of Medicine-Charlotte is seeking an experienced physician investigator to lead its newly launched vaccine clinical research program. With this newly created faculty position, we seek an individual who will enhance and further develop the science, the team, and the populations we work with. S/he will lead the operations of the clinical trials program, strongly supported by the Vice Chair for Research and Pediatric Research Director, with day-to-day support by the Vaccine Research Manager. This individual, a mid or senior career physician investigator, will be strongly supported in efforts to advance collaborations across our community and region. We have a strong culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, in our research team and investigators, as well as the populations included in trials.

Our newly established integration with Wake Forest University School of Medicine, enables this individual to have access to membership in the Center for Vaccines at the Extremes of Aging in Winston Salem. Cross campus collaborations with colleagues based in Winston Salem will be fostered and work with the CTSI program is encouraged. A portion of this position will be dedicated to clinical service or other educational or leadership activity.

Qualifications:

  • Pediatric academic physician with significant experience with vaccine clinical trials
  • Experience developing and leading vaccine trials, as well as working with industry and federal sponsors of vaccine research and teams, is desired.
  • Individuals who have experience working within the community to expand engagement to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and/or clinical care is preferred.

The STRIVE Vaccine Clinical Research Programs has a significant team and research infrastructure, including 2 full time research APPs, a vaccine research manager, research nurses, research coordinators, research associates, phlebotomists, and an interpreter. We are home to 2 stand-alone vaccine research clinics with have labs, pharmacy, clinical exam rooms, and offices for staff are fully dedicated to pediatrics and primarily our vaccine program.
