Description

Purpose of Position:

• To obtain all necessary information from outpatients to initiate treatment and billing by completing data entry and clinical information into the registration system.
• The registration department is the front door to this hospital and the patient registrar must provide professional, efficient, quality customer service.

Job Description:

• Enter and/or verify all information into Medipac registration system
• Verify eligibility for all insurances utilizing electronic verification systems
• Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire for every Medicare patient
• Screen all Medicare outpatient lab patients for medical necessity
• Departures of Immediate Care charts
• Tear down and assemble Immediate Care record
• Make up new charts for Immediate Care
• Print and verify the next day's schedule in Tempus
• Request jackets for add on patients in Mammography
• Accurately distribute faxes
• Answer the phones and overhead page
• Contact AultWorks for any workman's compensation patient
• Memo all pertinent information regarding billing and insurance into Mpac system
• Comprehensive knowledge of the following systems: MPAC, FirstNet, AultWorks, RevRunner, AHIQA, Compliance Checker, RIS, Tempus
• Follow all hospital and department policies
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma, minimum
• Ability to type at least 35 wpm
• Familiarity with medical terminology, useful
• Ability to work calmly and accurately in stressful situations
• Excellent customer service skills
• Professional manner and appearance

Working Conditions

• Day shift and afternoon shift coverage
• Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Co-coordinated lunch and break periods
• Close working relations with clinical staff
• Ability to multitask patient registration with phone calls
• Continual involvement with patients and their families
• Ability to assist patients in wheelchairs and transport if necessary
