This role requires associates to work out of a MVH North America hub location – Vancouver, WA | Santa Monica, CA | Tampa, FL | New York City, NY 

Why This Role Matters:

The Directors of Development will be responsible for identifying and resourcing learning initiatives and projects, managing stakeholders and building relationships with the business unit learning leads and MVH Europe L+D lead. They will lead their respective teams of Sr Learning Experience Designers and Instructional Designers, as well as designated project teams. The Development Lead(s) will be visionary and strategic leaders to shape and lead the enterprise-wide development strategy. The ideal candidates bring expertise in leadership and professional development, paired with the ability to motivate teams and drive impact in complex cross-functional environments.

You Will:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
  • Develop and implement a global development strategy aligned to organizational priorities, talent goals and cultural values.
  • Champion a continuous learning culture that supports agility, innovation and inclusion across all regions and functions.
  • This role will be responsible for design and project intake scoping, project management, resource management, capacity management, and stakeholder management for learning development projects.
  • Provide information and data to support the Learning Council agenda, contributing to developing a comprehensive and cohesive learning framework in line with United in Care.
  • The L+D Development Lead will hold Associates accountable to following processes and standards and collaborating across the organization and with learning teams in the business units.
  • Champion for ensuring L+D focuses on building the frictionless Associate experience by actively pushing for collaborative learning development based on Intake information across the businesses to collaborate and/or curate based on data and business objectives.
  • Lead the design and delivery of enterprise-wide and business unit specific development initiatives.
  • Oversee the portfolio of global learning experiences, including processes and standards for in-person, virtual and digital.
  • Elevate key risks, issues, and decisions necessary to the proper audience, i.e., Learning Council, senior leaders.
  • Facilitate the documentation and adoption of L+D processes and standards across the Global L+D team and business unit learning leads and deployment (as applicable).
  • Influence and align with global and regional stakeholders to ensure consistency and impact of development efforts.
  • Partner with the Global L+D VP, P&O Functional leads, and peers to establish efficient processes for standardization of processes, Resource Management, communications, team engagement, and connections to the business unit learning leads.
  • Building relationships with business unit learning leads to ensure Global Intake data process is effective, partner with peer Development leads on project scope and prioritization and actively create transparency across all learning teams.
  • Use data and feedback to continuously improve offerings and demonstrate value and/or ROI.
  • Awareness and knowledge of global trends, innovations and technologies in leadership and talent development.

Your Experience Should Include:

  • Bachelor's degree is required. An Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development or Human Resources is preferred.
  • 8-10 years' experience, progressive growth within development, learning or P&O experience.
  • Experience designing and delivering global development programs in a matrixed, multinational environment.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence across complex organizational structures.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning theory, leadership development, and change management.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and executive presence.
  • Certifications in coaching, leadership development tools, i.e., Korn Ferry, preferred.
  • Strong leadership and proven stakeholder management.

Salary Range: $161,600 - $277,750

Compensation is determined based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and market competitiveness

Special Working Considerations:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
