Position Summary  

The CCNA Instructor is entrusted with the critical task of delivering a top-tier educational experience aligned with the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification objectives. Key duties encompass the regular updating of the curriculum, creation of dynamic online courses, and provision of student support, both in group settings and one-on-one. Candidates must hold an Associate's degree in a tech-centric discipline, possess an active CCNA certification, and demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Cisco technologies in roles such as network support or administration. Prior teaching or instructional experience, especially online, is essential. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree, CCNP certification, or experience with advanced Cisco enterprise solutions will be given preference. Effective communication and a command over e-learning tools are indispensable for success in this role.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.

Compensation is $40.41 - $80.00 per hour. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

Generous benefits package for eligible employees is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter. 

In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

Essential Functions  
  • Update and maintain the curriculum aligned with the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification objectives.
  • Develop engaging online courses, lesson plans, teaching aids, assessments, and hands-on exercises.
  • Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels.
  • Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
  • Provide one-on-one and group mentoring to support students in their learning journey.
  • Address student questions and provide guidance on exam preparation.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in networking and CCNA certification requirements.
  • Maintain expertise in subject area and ensure curriculum content remains up-to-date and relevant.
  • Participate in departmental and college meetings as prescribed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience acquired by full-time working as a network support technician, network administrator, system engineer, or mid-level network engineer implementing and administering Cisco technologies and solutions.
  • Previous teaching or training experience, especially in an online format.
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and e-learning platforms.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in developing online course materials and curriculum design.
  • More than 4 years of experience working in the IT industry implementing enterprise network solutions using Cisco platforms as a base and implementing advance routing and switching, network security, data center technologies, collaboration and communication technologies, and network automation and programmability.
