Position Summary  

The ELC Office Assistant is a part-time position that provides coordination, analysis, advising and assistance to management in the operations of the Early Learning Center. The position performs detailed fiscal work in support of managing and providing reporting for funds, grants, and budget management for the Center. The Office Assistant provides front office coordination assisting families with questions and support. The position coordinates enrollment managing the waiting list for Early Learning Center and scheduling and coordinating family orientations. This position works under the supervision of the Assistant Director and the ELC Director.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay rate: $17.12 - $22.62/hour

The successful candidate is expected to work 10-30 hours per week. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.

The temporary hourly employment is limited to the earlier of 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months beginning from the original date of hire. Per WAC 357-04-045, following 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months, an individual is not eligible for re-employment at Bellevue College in another temporary part-time hourly position. Temporary hourly employees who work more than three hundred fifty (350) hours in a twelve consecutive month period may be subject to provisions of one the collective bargaining agreements covering Classified employees at Bellevue College.  

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month. Eligible positions are eligible for certain benefits.

About the Department  

The Early Learning Center encourages discovery, creativity, overall development, independence, self-regulation, problem solving, and exploration in a safe, respectful, yet stimulating, relationship based environment. Our program maintains a child-centered philosophy that accepts each child at his/her own developmental level and encourages him/her to learn through rich experiences. When planning the curriculum, teachers provide experiences that reflect families' interests, hobbies, cultures, and languages.

Essential Functions  
  • The ELC Office Assistant is a part-time position that works the front desk of the center.
  • This position will offer support in person, via email and on the phone to current and prospective parents.
  • Under the direction of the Assitant Director and Director, the assistant will work on monthly billings, enrollment updates and general clerical work to run the center.
  • The assistant may be asked to run errands within the center, communicate via email with the center teachers and present information to the director and admin team as needed.
Minimum Qualifications  
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of clerical experience or equivalent experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse colleagues and/or students in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Associate of Arts (AA) Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related degree.
  • Experience in Higher Education or Early Childhood.
