Position Summary  

Tombolo Institute is seeking a passionate and talented UX/UI Instructor to join our esteemed faculty. As a UX/UI Instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our students by imparting your expertise in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Instructors is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.

Pay Range: $41-$71/hr. depending on experience.

Generous benefits package for eligible employees is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter. 

In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

Essential Functions  

• Conduct dynamic and interactive classroom sessions, workshops, and lectures on UX/UI design principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Collaborate with faculty and administrators to develop and refine course materials, including lesson plans, assignments, projects, and assessments.
• Provide individualized support and feedback to students, guiding their skill development through constructive criticism, coaching, and mentorship.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in UX/UI design, and incorporate real-world experiences and case studies into the curriculum.
• Evaluate student work, review projects, and assess portfolios to maintain high-quality standards and provide constructive feedback.
• Foster a collaborative learning environment by working with other instructors, subject matter experts, and industry professionals.
• Pursue continuous learning and professional development opportunities to enhance personal skills and stay current in the field.

Minimum Qualifications  

• Practical experience in UX/UI design, working on diverse projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as UX/UI design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
• Demonstrate understanding of UX/UI principles, methodologies, and industry-standard tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications  

• Teaching, training, or mentoring experience in a professional or academic setting.
• Demonstrated continuous learning and commitment to staying updated with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in UX/UI design.
• Experience in using learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning tools.
