The Manager – Latin America Accounting will be primarily responsible for the local statutory and US GAAP accounting for the Latin America region. This role will directly supervise multiple accountants as well as “dotted line” oversight of the services performed on behalf of their team by the global shared services team in Pune, India, and will interact with various groups within the organization, including international teams, to achieve financial goals and continued development of accounting systems and policies. Additionally, this role will be responsible for accurate and timely processing, calculating, and reporting on various items, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Manage the monthly and quarterly US GAAP close process for the Latin America region, ensuring that accounts are maintained accurately in accordance with US GAAP, management of corporate deadlines and reporting requirements, analyzing results, and ensuring quality control processes are adhered to and are effective.
- Responsible for the management of the annual statutory accounts filing process for certain entities across Latin America, including coordination with audit firms, legal and tax providers, and company directors necessary for completion of the filing process.
- Awareness of updates of local accounting, tax, and US GAAP requirements and integrate these into the daily accounting processes, ensuring compliance where required.
- Responsible for managing various SOX compliance processes on a monthly and quarterly basis as it relates to the region.
- Interface with Corporate internal audit and assist Management to assess controls and procedures as they relate to the region and recommend and implement changes where required.
- Monthly review of trial balances and financial reports via analytical review combined with in-depth review of specific risk areas to determine whether any adjustments are necessary and coordinate the recording of any adjustments with the Financial Shared Services organization.
- Perform variance analysis of balance sheet and income statement on a monthly basis to identify potential required adjustments.
- Review and approve monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Calculate and/or review entity-level accounting for compliance with the various group intercompany agreements.
- Review and prepare statutory (or any other type of) audit documentation (including coordination and review of documentation prepared by the Financial Shared Services organization).
- Liaise with Tax, FP&A, Legal and other key stakeholders to assess risks and priorities.
- Work closely with the other departments such as AP and Payroll to forecast cash requirements, and entity profitability.
- Advise and assist the Legal department with corporate secretarial and financial matters related to legal entity establishment.
- Manage a small team of senior accountants.
This position will report to the Senior Manager – Americas Accounting and will lead a team of senior-level accounting personnel, including “dotted line” oversight of the services performed on behalf of their team by the global shared services team in Pune, India, as well as significant interaction with other global accounting teams, as well as cross-functional departments within the Company, including Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Legal, Human Resources, and others.
- Experience in corporate/regional accounting and financial controls in a public company environment or public accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles and US GAAP.
- Proficiency with select software applications; experience with Oracle and OneStream a plus.
- Experience with team leadership, including mentoring, performance management, and professional development.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English, Portuguese and Spanish, as the position requires regular partnering with Company executives and others across multiple corporate functions and regions, as well as third-party service providers.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems technology, multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple, concurrent tasks.
- Ability to perform complex calculations, understand accounting impact and implications of transactions, and review complex reconciliations of large volumes of data.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment, under pressure and within strict deadlines.
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Education/Training Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting
- CPA (or equivalent certification)
- 5+ years of work experience in an international environment, working for a U.S. headquartered multinational company is a plus, as well as experience in the Information Technology industry.
- Strong verbal and written Portuguese, English and Spanish skills'
