Bronson Neuroscience Center has an exciting opportunity in Southwest Michigan for a goal oriented, energetic Nurse Practitioner with an inpatient focus supporting Neurocritical Care. Bronson Neuroscience Center currently consists of: 6 Neurocritical Care APPs, a Neurointensivist, 11 Neurologists, dedicated Neurohospitalists, 3 Neurosurgeons, Neuroendovascular surgeon, 4 Physiatrists, and extensive Advanced Practitioner support for all subspecialties.
GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Neurocritical Care Nurse Practitioner position is an employed, full-time position that includes varied shifts and weekends. In this role, the candidate will be working collaboratively with multiple providers including: Trauma Surgeons, Medical Intensivists, Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, and Hospitalists.
The Neurocritical Care NP supports critically ill patients with neurological or neurosurgical conditions or who are at risk of developing neurological complications. This position also participates in the Stroke Call down process, provides input in performance improvement and nursing education. The NP will perform patient assessments, medical histories, physical exams, and plan and implement plans of care in collaboration with Neurointensivist or appropriate attending. The Neurocritical Care NP will work as a collaborative member of the care team to enhance continuity of care, facilitate and coordinate a comprehensive plan of care, participate and support ongoing research studies in the ICUs, and offer their expertise to nursing and collaborating medical teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Michigan lic ensure/certification as a Nurse Practitioner granted by a Board recognized certifying organization.
- 1-3 years NP experience strongly preferred
- New graduates will be considered with strong critical care and/or neuroscience nursing experience
- Excellent critical thinking and communication skills are required.
