About the Opportunity:

The Educational Media Producer, Videographer is a member of a course development team within the Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning whose work focuses on developing high quality, fully-online learning experiences.  This position will work directly with instructors to craft and capture creative video/audio stories by filming interviews, direct-to-camera instructor micro lectures (with & without teleprompter), produce audio podcasts, and voiceovers, and capture b-roll. 
 

At the Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning, the successful candidate for this hybrid-eligible position will be joining a team of educational developers with diverse perspectives and experiences who are each committed to educational excellence, equity, and access at Brown.  Staff within this vibrant center thrive on interdisciplinary collaboration, genuine curiosity, and evidence-based, reflective practices.


Responsibilities:
The core responsibilities of the position include guiding instructors with brainstorming instructional content media for their online courses, and organizing and directing related pre-production and production tasks.  The successful candidate must be able to identify and execute creative and innovative approaches to videography, and have significant technical expertise as a camera operator, lighting expertise in various setups (e.g., studio, green screen, on-location), and be able to direct and get the best out of their on-camera subjects.
 

In this role, candidates can expect to: 

  • Guide instructors on the planning and development of media scripts for instructional content media. 

  • Lead project and production task management for select media projects, and coordinate the efforts of other involved production team members.

  • Use DSLR and/or digital cinema cameras, sound, and lighting equipment to produce instructional content media in partnership with a team of design professionals.

  • Coach and direct people in front of the camera.

  • Adobe video editing software to edit video footage into concise, effective, and engaging videos that incorporate b-roll and other 3rd party resources to enhance messaging.

  • Produce media in various styles depending on subject matter and vision of the program.

  • Collaborate with other members of the team, including design, media, and technology professionals, to ensure that media is developed on time and in scope.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience required 

  • 2-3 years of experience in video/audio production (planning, shooting, directing) 

  • Strong ability using DSLR and/or digital cinema cameras, sound, and lighting equipment

  • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop)

  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment

Salary Grade:

9, non-exempt

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.  The successful candidate is expected to work on Brown's Providence campus at least two days per week, and when needed for production needs, with the flexibility to work remotely on other days.
